Joe,

I am so happy to be a participant in these book drives. Seeing the kids’ faces when they see a new book is so touching. It’s like Christmas morning to them. This is something I took for granted as a child. My aunt is doing a book drive & more in the Philippines & I am glad to be helping out state-side.

Here is just a taste of what your generosity has done. I was lucky enough to read to these amazingly well behaved, (thankfully) interested, cute kids at St. Michael’s in Englewood, CA. 95% of the kids in this school can not afford books and when they found out they were going home with 3 brand new books, they were beyond thrilled.
So first I read them a book- a tad nerve racking at first- I don’t know how teachers do it, but then I got the hang of it. And, again, the kids were so polite. We had a bunch of laughs. I read to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades.
When these kids got there books, it was as if you set them loose in Toys R Us. They loved the books and you could tell they would be cherishing them for a long time to come. And all because you guys to a little time to bring a new book to the summer tour.
Kepp up the book drives and get the books to the places that need them most. They are out there. Big ups to the girls who put on the Rock the Block party with the Fat Boys! And Big ups to The Fat Boys for bringing it to another level!!! Legends of the game helping out the cause.

We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next! BraveHearts ready for step 2! :)

I have been off the LGT radar for too long but I wanted to thank everyone for keeping it going. Raising awareness an money! for early reading. “Step 1” will never end and will always be remembered by all of us as such a huge success and strong foundation for this foundation - we can still do more. Folks are doing fundraisers and book drives. A new book is the gift that keeps on giving and can change the path of a young child. Step 1 continues on!!! Step 2 is on the horizon for sure but let’s keep thinking books books books! We ate changing the world, step by step :) -jm
